El Instituto Nacional de Protección de los Derechos del Consumidor, entidad nacional encargada de establecer las políticas generales para la protección de los derechos del Consumidor, conforme a las atribuciones que le confiere la Ley No. 358-05 de Protección del Consumidor y la Ley.No.166-12 como Autoridad Nacional de Vigilancia del Mercado, pone a disposición de los ciudadanos el Servicio de Alerta de Productos, con el propósito de advertir a la población sobre las irregularidades que presentan los productos comercializados a nivel nacional e internacional que pueda generar un riesgo grave para la salud y seguridad de los consumidores o usuarios.
Pro Consumidor emite la alerta cuando se presentan los casos siguientes, a saber:
Al realizar análisis y estudios a los productos y se determine que su uso o consumo puede atentar contra la salud y seguridad.
Al recibir de un proveedor, importador, productor, fabricante o distribuidor una notificación en la que se indique sobre los riesgos, sospecha o posible daño que pudiera causar su producto.
Cuando uno de los países que conforman la Red de Consumo Seguro y Salud (RCSS) de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) o cualquier autoridad competente en materia de consumo, emite una alerta prohibiendo la comercialización de un producto.

Colgate-Palmolive, informa y hace de conocimiento general que realizó un retiro voluntario de lotes de productos de limpieza multiusos fabricados entre el 14 de diciembre de 2022 y el 23 de enero de 2023, para los mercados de Estados Unidos y Canadá, directamente no comercializa ninguno de estos productos en República Dominicana.
Los productos están afectados porque no se les ha añadido el nivel previsto con una cantidad de conservante inadecuada, durante la fabricación.
